Prevention
SAPC Prevention provides primary prevention services throughout Los Angeles County for youth, young adults, and adults.
Programs are provided for individuals who do not have a substance use disorder (also known as addiction) or need treatment.
These programs engage families, schools, and communities through a comprehensive range of programs and special initiatives.

Prevention First: Primary prevention programs provide a comprehensive range of presentations, classes, youth activities, community events, and public health advocacy to prevent community substance use.

Community-Based Prevention Network
The community-based prevention network consists of multiple community-based agencies that provide primary prevention services to individuals in Los Angeles County who do not require substance use treatment services.
Community-based agencies in over 40 locations provide an array of prevention strategies and interventions throughout LA County serving over 20,000 county residents.
Strategies include parents and youth workshops, policy work groups, community coalitions, community prevention training, media campaigns and social media projects, peer and youth advocacy and mentoring programs,
marijuana public smoking and social host initiatives, and retailer campaigns to address substance use prevention in LA County.
