Licensed Clinicians who treat individuals with substance use disorders (SUD) are on the frontlines of a nationwide crisis. They have the opportunity to change the lives of individuals, their families, and the entire community.
Licensed Clinicians conduct assessments and diagnose substance use disorders, conduct individual, family, and group therapy, engage participants' in post-treatment rehabilitation, and oversee teams of counselors and other SUD professionals.
Clinicians working in the substance use disorder field are also referred to as Licensed Practitioners of the Healing Arts (LPHA), which includes various clinical professionals such as:
- Physicians (MD or DO)
- Nurse Practitioners (NP);
- Physician Assistants (PA)
- Registered Nurses (RN)
- Licensed Clinical Psychologists (LCP)
- Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW);
- Licensed Professional Clinical Counselors (LPCC)
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT)
- License-eligible Practitioners working under the supervision of licensed clinicians
