- How do I get access to the Library’s online journals and eBooks?
- Answer: To access the Library’s online journals, databases, and eBooks you must have an active Athens account. Please fill out the Athens request form on the Library’s homepage or email phlib@ph.lacounty.gov and staff will create an account for you.
- My Athens password expired. How do I reset it?
- Answer: To reset your Athens password, please email phlib@ph.lacounty.gov. OpenAthens will not let the user reset their password themselves; you must email the library.
- What is the Library’s donation policy?
- Answer: We accept donations that meet the following criteria:
- Excellent physical condition
- Current within the last five years
- If not current, then materials possess rare qualities or historical value
- Potential for circulation
Donations become property of the Public Health Library, and any donated materials accepted and subsequently deemed unsuitable for the Library's collection will be disposed of at the discretion of the Library.

- How long does it take to get articles from other libraries?
- Answer: Because of many factors it can take anywhere from less than 24 hours to two weeks. If the material wanted has tight time limitations make a note of that when emailing over the list and every attempt will be made to have the article(s) emailed.
