About Unfair Burden
Everyone deserves to live in a clean, healthy environment that promotes good health and wellbeing. The air we breathe, water we drink, and places that we spend time in can affect how healthy we feel. Pollution and unhealthy environments can increase the chances of developing many physical problems, from stress and headaches to asthma, heart disease, cancer, and premature death.
Unfortunately, we know that poor people and people of color are more likely to live in neighborhoods that have more contaminated air, water, and soil. People of color and poor people are unfairly burdened with pollution that can create stress, increase the chances of health problems like asthma and heart disease, and make it difficult to enjoy a healthy lifestyle.
