DPH Vital Records Office - Order Death Certificates
Notice of Certificate Availability
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Vital Records office maintains death records for
events occurring in Los Angeles
County (except for Pasadena and Long Beach) during
the current year or previous year. For all other
records, contact the Los Angeles County
Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk at 800-201-8999.

Death Certificates are available 10 days after the original certificate has been registered. Requests can be made in-person, by mail,
or on-line.
The Department of Public Health Vital Records cannot process online orders, however, for your convenience, we have partnered with VitalChek Network to provide this service. VitalChek accepts debit and the following credit cards: MasterCard, Visa, American Express or Discover. A handling fee will be charged on all debit and credit card orders in addition to the certified copy fee.
